Rooted in Lithuanian paganism, classical kriya-based yoga from the Northern Himalayas, Ayurveda, as well as 20 years of community organizing for racial justice, here I am. Originally from New York City and its suburbs, I first moved to Oakland in 2007. My family lives in Rhode Island, Pennsylvania, Seattle, New York, Ann Arbor, Chicago, and North Carolina. I am white and my ancestors come from Lithuania, France, and England. My spiritual teachers live in Northern India, Las Vegas, and Mexico. The rebels and community organizers whose shoulders I stand on live in Oakland, Austin, Philadelphia, and Connecticut. I live on stolen Ohlone land. My ancestors did rituals at the base of trees in forests.
Intentional breathwork, meditation, and radishes -- they changed my life and still do. I love donuts. I dance. I miss walking in the river of people in Manhattan. I'm part of the collective fight for public schools that work for all children, youth, and their families, and especially for Black, Latinx, and Indigenous students and low-income students.
